There's no excuse not to have a happy and relaxing time at Arbuthnott

  • Walks in the hills or a choice of sandy and rocky beaches on the coast such as at St Cyrus

  • If you want a guided walk up Royal Deeside visit www.walkdeeside.com
  • Visits to castles (e.g. the ruined fortress of Dunnottar Castle used in the film Hamlet starring Mel Gibson).  There are many other stately homes and gardens in the area and up Deeside.
  • Hill walking, pony trekking and cycling on Deeside and the Angus Glens
  • There are several Nature Reserves in the area
  • Nearby golf courses at Montrose, Edzell, Auchenblae and Stonehaven
  • Swimming Pools in Stonehaven and Montrose (or the North Sea for the hardy!)
  • Cinemas and Theatres in Aberdeen and Dundee
  • Visit the local distillery at Fettercairn
  • Fishing: sea-fishing from Stonehaven, free permit on the River Bervie for those staying in the holiday houses.  The famous salmon rivers North and South Esk and River Dee are nearby  
  • Learn about the heritage of the area at the Grassic Gibbon Centre  (see picture below)
